Put on The Full Armour of God 

Sword – The Word of God 

Put on all of God’s armour so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil. For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places. Therefore, put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm. 

 The Belt of Truth 

What is Truth?  

I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. John 14:6 

Jesus IS The Truth 

And you will know the Truth, and The Truth will set you free. John 8:32 

Jesus WILL set YOU free 

God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth. John 4:24 

God IS a Spirit 

But when the Helper comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth, who proceeds from the Father, he will bear witness about me. John 15:26 

The Holy Spirit, which is the helper, speaks from the inside of you in the spirit. This is the deposit of proof that reveals Jesus in you and to you. 

But you have received The Holy Spirit, and he lives within you, so you don’t need anyone to teach you what is true. For The Spirit teaches you everything you need to know, and what he teaches is true – it is not a lie. 1 John 2:27 

The Spirit is God (Jesus). He will teach you everything that is True, because he is Truth and never lies. 

For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him. John 3:16-17 

Jesus Loves You. He came here on a rescue mission for you. He purposely died and rose again FOR YOU, so you may live through him. Jesus is the resurrection. He is the resurrected NEW Birth in ALL who believe in The Truth. 

Stand your ground, putting on the belt of truth... Ephesians 6:14 

The truth is the belt that allows you to stand firm. It holds your body armour in place, protecting you from enemy fire. The belt is where you hold the sheath for your sword. Without the truth, you have no way of wearing your body armour and sword, leaving you defenseless against the enemy. 

The Body Armour (Breastplate) of Righteousness 

What is Righteousness? 

God presented Christ as a sacrifice of atonement, through the shedding of his blood—to be received by faith. He did this to demonstrate his righteousness, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished— he did it to demonstrate his righteousness at the present time, so as to be just and the one who justifies those who have faith in Jesus. Romans 3:25-26 

The Lord Jesus justifies (Makes in Right standing) us through faith. 

The one who does what is right is righteous, just as he is righteous. 1 John 3:7 

What is right is NOT to sin or intentionally do wrong. 

We know that God’s children do not make a practice of sinning, for God’s Son holds them securely, and the evil one cannot touch them. 1 John 5:18 

Those made right (Justified) by Jesus, DO NOT knowingly sin. 

Suppose a certain man is righteous and does what is just and right. He does not feast in the mountains before Israel’s idols or worship them. He does not commit adultery or have intercourse with a woman during her menstrual period. He is a merciful creditor, not keeping the items given as security by poor debtors. He does not rob the poor but instead gives food to the hungry and provides clothes for the needy. He grants loans without interest, stays away from injustice, is honest and fair when judging others, and faithfully obeys my decrees and regulations. Anyone who does these things is just and will surely live, says the Sovereign Lord. Ezekiel 18:5-9 

The True followers of Christ do what is just and right ALL the time. 

So, God did what the law could not do. He sent his own Son in a body like the bodies we sinners have. And in that body God declared an end to sin’s control over us by giving his Son as a sacrifice for our sins. He did this so that the just requirement of the law would be fully satisfied for us, who no longer follow our sinful nature but instead follow the Spirit. Those who are dominated by the sinful nature think about sinful things, but those who are controlled by the Holy Spirit think about things that please the Spirit. Romans 8:3-5 

The evidence of right standing is in obedience to The Holy Spirit of Jesus. 

Stand your ground, putting on the belt of truth and the body armor of God’s righteousness. Ephesians 6:14 

Doing what is right before The Lord is the body armour that protects you against the weapons being fired at you from the enemy. When you battle the enemy without body armor, his weapons will hurt you. Living based on the sinful nature will lead to death, obedience to doing good WILL protect you. 

The Shoes of Peace 

What is Peace? 

Therefore, since we have been made right in God’s sight by faith, we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us. Romans 5:1 

Peace comes from God through faith in Jesus Christ. 

You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you! Isaiah 26:3 

Peace derives from trusting Jesus and focusing on The Lord. 

Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God. Matthew 5:9 

Making peace with others provides the Lords Blessing. 

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope. Romans 15:13 

Peace is received by Faith in Jesus, which gives new hope. 

When people’s lives please the Lord, even their enemies are at peace with them. Proverbs 16:7 

Being faithful to Jesus causes your enemies to be at peace with you. 

But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed. Isaiah 53:5 

Jesus suffered physical and emotional punishment so he can give you peace. 

For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News so that you will be fully prepared. Ephesians 6:15 

The good news is that Jesus is the resurrected Lord of Lords and King of the world. Faith in him provides peace within and amongst people. Peace steadies you to be clear minded and obedient while abiding in hope and joy that are provided by The Holy Spirit of Jesus. 

The Shield of Faith 

What is Faith? 

Faith shows the reality of what we hope for; it is the evidence of things we cannot see. Hebrews 11:1 

Faith in Jesus is the belief that he was born as the son of the most high invisible God that is a spirit. That he came here, walked to the cross on purpose, died and rose again to free all people from the sinful human nature that leads to death. Jesus is God in the flesh powered completely by The Holy Spirit. 

And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him. Hebrews 11:6 

The evidence of faith comes through obedience to Jesus, by loving your neighbor. 

So faith comes from hearing, that is, hearing the Good News about Christ. Romans 10:17 

Faith is born from learning about Jesus and trusting The Word. 

God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Ephesians 2:8 

You are saved by Faith in Jesus and no other reason. 

Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take. Proverbs 3:5-6 

Jesus shows you The Way for all life decisions when you trust in only him. 

For every child of God defeats this evil world, and we achieve this victory through our faith. 1 John 5:4 

All Victories are won with and through Jesus. He secured your victory by rising from the dead. You take hold of the victory by Faith and obedience to him. 

In addition to all of these, hold up the shield of faith to stop the fiery arrows of the devil. Ephesians 6:16 

Jesus is The Lord of Heavens Armies. He and his Angels are your bodyguards and infantry. They cannot be defeated. Jesus secures your victory by faith. He already defeated the enemy. Own it. 

The Helmet of Salvation 

What is Salvation? 

God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. Ephesians 2:8-9 

Salvation is being saved by Jesus from the consequence of eternal death brought about by sin. It is a free gift ONLY provided by faith in the risen Lord Jesus Christ. 

When God our Savior revealed his kindness and love, he saved us, not because of the righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He washed away our sins, giving us a new birth and new life through the Holy Spirit. Titus 3:4-5 

Jesus is grace, mercy and love. HE saved us because he is the redemption. You can do nothing to save yourself. Only belief in Jesus and his acceptance saves you. It is his. 

There is salvation in no one else! God has given no other name under heaven by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12 

Jesus plus nothing saves you. Jesus alone is God. 

If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9 

Declare Jesus is Lord publicly and privately. He is our one and only Savior. 

For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16 

Jesus loves you. He endured death and torture so he can have a personal relationship with you. 

The salvation of the righteous comes from the Lord; he is their stronghold in time of trouble. The Lord helps them and delivers them; he delivers them from the wicked and saves them, because they take refuge in him. Psalm 37:39-40 

The Lord Jesus protects you in difficulty. He delivers all of his faithful believers. We are his and we belong to him. 

Put on salvation as your helmet... Ephesians 6:17 

The helmet protects your life. You wear it to keep from being injured or killed. It is the key to all battles and will guard you in times of trouble and assault from the enemy. 

The Sword of The Spirit 

What is the Spirit (The Word)? 

For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. Hebrews 4:12 

The Sword is The Word of God. It is how you fight back against the enemy. Without it, you will be struck, injured, fearful and without the ability to overcome the battle. 

Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path. Psalm 119:105 

The Word shows you The Way. The Word is the light in the darkness. 

We use God’s mighty weapons, not worldly weapons, to knock down the strongholds of human reasoning and to destroy false arguments. 2 Corinthians 10:4 

The Weapon of God is The Sword, which is The Word. The Word defeats all enemies and has already defeated the enemy. 

In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God. John 1:1 

The Word is Jesus incarnate. The Word is Jesus in the flesh. The Word already won the battle. It is finished. The Word is life. 

Such things were written in the Scriptures long ago to teach us. And the Scriptures give us hope and encouragement as we wait patiently for God’s promises to be fulfilled. Romans 15:4 

The scriptures (The Word) are provided to teach us what to do. They give us hope of the promises God gives us through believing and receiving Jesus. 

The Spirit alone gives eternal life. Human effort accomplishes nothing. And the very words I have spoken to you are spirit and life. John 6:63 

God is a Spirit. Jesus is the Word. Worship the Lord Jesus in Spirit accepting his truth in the Word of God as the Word of God. 

...and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. Ephesians 6:17 

The battle of life for life has already occurred. Jesus won the victory at the cross. Accept the Holy Spirit and worship the Lord Jesus by learning his Word, The Word of God. The battle is already over. To own the victory for yourself, The Spirit and The Word are your advocate, your mighty helper and guide into the acceptance of The Truth.
