“Three different times I begged the Lord to take it away. Each time he said, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me. That’s why I take pleasure in my weaknesses, and in the insults, hardships, persecutions, and troubles that I suffer for Christ. For when I am weak, then I am strong.”
2 Corinthians 12:8-10
In weakness you are made strong. Sadness is a very real side effect of weakness. To be made whole in God - he rids us of our very selves so that he can take up full residence in our bodies. In this removal - weakness follows, pain, depression and loneliness.
However, it is this specific time when the Lord fills us new. You cannot pour new wine into an old wineskin, you will ruin the wine. No - you must pour new wine into new wineskins and be made whole. The wine is the spirit - the new spirit - our bodies are the wine-skins - to be new - you must be new in Jesus Christ.
The Lord asks that you do something simple for him at first. If you are obedient in faith, that it is the Lord speaking to you from the Holy Spirit, he will continue to speak to you with information and directives. As you continue to be obedient and learn his voice from the inside of you, your faith will grow and grow. Get up for the Lord and the Lord will fill you with his voice, power - strength and wisdom. At once you begin to hear the small simple voice of God directing your steps - be obedient and the Lord will remove your depression and replace it with his Spirit which always gives love and hope.
